Jeffrey D. Lusk, M.D.
Behind the laid-back style and friendly demeanor of Dr. Jeffrey Lusk, lies a fierce competitor who embraces life’s challenges at every opportunity.
While growing up in Shreveport, Dr. Lusk enjoyed sports and the outdoors…but he excelled in tennis and academics. His freshman year in high school was won the state doubles championship and was runner-up his sophomore year. At Captain Shreve High School, he graduated as the salutatorian in 2001 and went on to become a nationally ranked tennis player. Dr. Lusk then went to college at Washington and Lee University, consistently ranked as one of the top liberal arts colleges in the nation. Again, he excelled on the tennis courts and academics, graduating magna cum laude with a bachelor’s of science degree, majoring in Biology.
After undergraduate school, Dr. Lusk’s dream of coming home came to fruition when he was accepted into Louisiana State University Medical School. He graduated in the top one third of his class and matched into Ophthalmology, one of the toughest and most competitive residencies to achieve. He completed his preliminary medicine internship and residency at LSU, finishing as chief resident in 2013.
His residency was followed by a unique opportunity to earn a subspecialty fellowship in glaucoma at University of Texas Southwestern in Dallas, Texas. Today, Dr. Lusk is board eligible by the American Academy of Ophthalmology and is a Fellowship-trained glaucoma specialist.
After coming home to join his brother, Dr. Bryan Lusk, and his father, Dr. James Lusk, in practice at Lusk Eye Specialists, he married his college sweetheart and looks forward to raising his family in the town that he grew up in.
